Jamaica is the third largest of the Caribbean islands. Jamaica is approximately 146 miles long and 51 miles wide. Kingston is the capital and largest city, located in the south eastern part of the island. Although the official language is English, most Jamaicans speak an English-based dialect which is known as patois.

The two rainy seasons are May & October through November while the hurricane season lasts from June 1 through November 30. Hight season in Jamaica runs from mid-November through mid-April.

Weekly classes at Skylark Resort include cooking, painting, meditative tours, tour of the organic garden at Rockhouse and a Rockhouse Foundation Community Tour. A shuttle runs back and forth between the sister property, The Rockhouse, for daily yoga and Caribbean dancing.

For it’s latest project the Rockhouse Foundation conceived of and built from the ground up Jamaica’s first public mixed ability, full-inclusion model early childhood school, where typical learners and children with a wide range of special needs are taught side-by-side in the same classroom.
