Biodegradable plastic does not equal compostable plastic. Biodegradable refers to a material breaking down with the help of a microorganism with no time limit. These plastics can leave behind toxic residue. Compostable refers to materials breaking down into carbon dioxide, water and biomass at the same rate as cellulose and does not leave behind toxic residue.
Pela cases are a blend of starch-based elastomer with flax shive that has created thousands of phone cases all over the world. Pela’s flaxstic material is made from 45% plant based material. The back panel of the new clear case is made with 100% plant based material.
