Gladden lies directly on the edge of the widest and most picturesque section of the Belize Barrier Reef in the Caribbean sea. It is the longest reef in the Western Hemisphere and the 2nd largest in the World. Located 20 miles off the coast of Placencia, Belize, Gladden is the furthest island out from the mainland and closest to the protected side of the reef where the water is calm and clear. The magical “Gladden Split” where the whale sharks congregate once a year is a mere few miles away. This is one of the most beautiful locations in the World.

A Gladden representative will meet you at customs and take you directly to the helicopter where you will be whisked away over the Belize Barrier Reef and land directly on Gladden 35-40 minutes later. This is truly an amazing experience and will save you a few hours of travelling.

Your regional flights from Belize City to Placencia are included in the rate and booked through us. When you arrive in Placencia you will be escorted by a Gladden representative directly to Gladden by speed boat which takes between 40 and 50 minutes.
THE GLADDEN VILLA
While you’re ensconced in a casually luxurious 3,000-square-foot villa, you’ll never spot a neighbor. But you will be greeted with stunning views from every room. Stand in the entryway and let your eyes wander across the swimming pool to the coral reef beyond. Slip into the master suite, a soothing enclave of dark woods complemented by wide windows overlooking the ocean. Climb to the roof terrace to soak up the sun and bask in the panorama of aquamarine lagoons as far as the eye can see. The villa was built for two, but a second master bedroom can comfortably accommodate another couple should you decide that such dazzling beauty deserves to be shared.

A Gladden experience will be anything but ordinary. Dine anywhere. Casually paddle around the island while the vibrant reef entertains or call the boat captain to take you to some of the worlds best snorkeling and diving spots. At the end of the day relax with a cocktail in hand and watch the dolphins swim by. Adventurous guests can head to the mainland where staff will arrange a variety of activities to immerse yourself in Belizian culture.
Belize is home to the longest barrier reef system in the Northern and Western Hemispheres, and its stunning central section lies right in our back yard. Snorkeling merely requires a few fin kicks from the beach outside your villa, or let your island host arrange a trip to nearby Gladden Spit and the Silk Cayes Marine Reserve for some of the best scuba diving in the world. From April through June, whale sharks congregate in this protected area, offering the rare chance to swim with these gentle giants, the largest fish in the sea. Outside of the marine preserve, spear fishing and deep-sea fishing are available.
A great way to cruise and explore the inner Barrier Reef. Stop at nearby private island establishments and enjoy cold drinks and great food. Visit our friends at King Lewey’s Caye, a small pirate themed island resort with great food and a fun atmosphere or visit the Lionfish Grill on Hatchet Caye, offering unique and tasty menu items cooked with local produce and the freshest seafood.
Pool side lounging, cocktails in the open air palapa and sunset dinners on the roof top terrace are par for the course. Your hosts will customize your experience on Gladden to be as relaxing or adventurous as you like.

Over 200 acres of beautiful rain forest ensures maximum privacy and the only sounds you will hear are those of the jungle and waterfall. Perched high over a gently flowing stream and next to a post card waterfall the luxurious 5,000 – square foot home blends in with nature and the surrounding beauty. The home has two beautiful private master suites located on the first floor as well as a large study with full bath that could also be used as a kids bedroom.
Spend a day hiking on the miles of diverse private trails along the stream, through the twenty acres of tropical flower gardens and the mountains on the property. After an adventurous day relax and enjoy the spectacular view in the hot tub or pool. Valley Stream is 1,000 feet above sea level which keeps things much cooler and typically no annoying bugs.
